GANESHA PUJA | INDIAN WEDDING TRADITION
Ganesha Puja History and Introduction
The groom heads to the Mandap once the Baraat has been concluded. His arrival at the Mandap signals the commencement of the wedding rituals. Before the rituals proper, the Priest invokes the Hindu elephant God, Ganesh, to remove all obstacles and ensure that the rituals go smoothly. The Puja is considered necessary because it brings good luck while destroying whatsoever obstacles the couple and their families may face. A prayer to Lord Ganesh is the first step in every notable ceremony in the Hindu religion.
Ganesha Puja Ceremony
The two families are involved in the Ganesha Puja, as well as the people sitting with them on stage at the Mandap. On arriving at the venue, the groom greets the guests and family present, while thanking them for coming around. During this time, the bride has not entered yet or seated at the Mandap.
